United Raises the Bar

Business travellers on United Airlines are about to discover a new level of comfort – the new international United Business® experience will provide customers with optimal space to work, sleep and relax during long overseas flights in lie-flat beds.
This year the airline introduces its new United Business seats and earns the distinction of becoming the first US carrier to offer fully lie-flat beds in business class on overseas flights.

All 21 of the Boeing 767s in United’s international fleet have now been upgraded with fully lie-flat beds in United First® and United Business® - in fact, they are the first true flat bed seats in a major US airline’s business class cabin.  United is also introducing an exciting new menu, including local cuisine where available, personal 15.4” (39cm) widescreen video monitors and Apple iPod® and iPhone® connectivity.

Fly United’s new flat bed product on three daily direct services from London Heathrow to Chicago O’Hare and select services from London Heathrow to Washington, D.C.

United is investing hundreds of millions of dollars to enhance the international premium travel experience for its customers. The new seats have more space than ever, with every inch of the innovative, forward and rear-facing seat configuration tailored to maximise personal space and privacy.  Up to 23.5 inches wide, the new international United Business seat adjusts to a broad range of positions whilst ensuring customers get the level of privacy they desire through the careful positioning of the in-flight entertainment console and a side seat divider screen.

Each seat also offers audio and video on-demand entertainment and a 15.4 inch video screen – significantly larger than United’s previous business class monitor – complete with over 150 hours of movies and television programmes, plus 30 audio channels. What’s more, passengers can even plug in their iPods and enjoy their own music, games and videos through their inflight entertainment unit.

United is also investing in a new International First Class Suite along with other onboard enhancements, including exciting menu selections developed by Chef Charlie Trotter and fine wine offerings from Master Sommelier and Master of Wine Doug Frost.  Other elements that will be introduced in the coming months include upgraded premium cabin restrooms, new interiors throughout the entire aircraft and other amenities in the first and business class cabins to create a more relaxed atmosphere.
